The UK might be a relatively small island but it has a diverse and spectacular array of natural wonders. These wonders can be found right across the country from the tip of lands end right up to the northern reaches of John O’Groats. Many of the best natural features are protected in National Parks, which have become huge tourist attractions bring millions of visitors into the countryside each year.
Of these National parks the Peak District is the most popular; in fact it is the second most popular National Park in the world, being beaten by only the Mount Fuji National Park in Japan. Annually The Peaks attract an incredible 22 million visitors each year who come to admire the stunning scenery as well as take part in the many activities available in the park.
North Wales has its own wonder in the form of Mount Snowdon, the largest mountain in England and Wales. The mountain has long fascinated people with its craggy peaks, valleys stretching to the sea and some great walking trails.
The Scottish highlands are one of the jewels in the crown of the British landscapes and are quite unlike anything else found in the country. The Highlands are made up of a variety of different landscapes with snowcapped mountains to lake filled valleys and rolling green hills to thick woodland. For along time the highlands have been an inspiration to people and still to this day many come here for a peaceful and relaxing holiday. There are also plenty of great activates too if you find your holiday getting to quite.
The New Forest is one of the newest National Parks in Britain and is one of the most popular with families. Every year thousands of families head for the New Forest for their holidays. The area has a lot to offer with many attractions and things to see and do, the main attraction though is the beautiful scenery on offer. Despite its name the area has a variety of different landscapes with grasslands, valleys and costal lagoons all being a particular highlight.
There are so many more fantastic natural wonders in the UK, in fact no matter where you live or where you visit you will never be far from beautiful inspiring scenery.
The UK is working hard to protect much of its natural wonders, a particular difficulty in the UK as land is at a premium it’s even more important to make sure that our natural heritage is protected for future generations.
