Scotland Map
Planning a trip to Scotland…?
I’m planning a trip anywhere from 10-14 days for me, hubby, & son (will be 5).
I plan on going to:
-The Wallace Monument (Stirling)
-Edinburgh (for the Military Tattoo & the Edinburgh Castle)
-Loch Ness
-St. Andrews
-Ayrshire (my husbands clan has a castle there)
Where else do you suggest? I’m assuming it would be best if we just rented a car? Lastly, we’re thinking of spending 1 night in a castle, which is very costly. Have you done this & would you do this again? Thanks!
It is not expensive to spend the night in Carbisdale Castle, which is a youth hostel. If I did it again, I would plan better so that I could spend some time there in the daylight. As it was, I arrived after dark, I left before sunrise, and I didn’t see much.
Other than my own communing with the ancestors, I quite enjoyed Inverness and Iona. I didn’t drive, though. I took the train to Glasgow, a coach to Oban, ferry-coach (down a one-lane track)-ferry to Iona and back to Oban, coach to Fort William, coach up the great glen past Loch Ness to Inverness.
