Holiday parks in Scotland and accommodation   by Tom Vatson

Whether you are looking for a short weekend break or a fantastic holiday in Scotland, holiday parks should be your right choice. It gets monotonous when, on every holiday you do the same thing- stay at a hotel, go sightseeing and shopping, etc. How about a change? How about something different? Holiday parks are resorts with a boundary that include accommodation, entertainment, and other facilities.

Accommodation in holiday parks in Scotland typically consists of chalets, static caravans, log cabins, self catering cottages, etc. Holiday makers pay a fee for their accommodation and decide whether to go full-board (prices of all meals to be included in the total price), half board (only the price of the main meal would be included) or self catering (no meals provided at the holiday park). Included in the price are entertainments provided on site, including ballroom dancing, swimming pools, funfair, table tennis, cinema, etc.

There are extensive facilities for children, such as créches and clubs for the young, which enable children and youngsters to stay occupied while their parents follow their own pursuits. In addition, there are facilities for which usually a fee is charged- bars, restaurants, amusement arcades, etc.

In Scotland, Parkdean Holidays has six holiday parks. Grannie’s Heilan’ Hame is situated near the city of Dornoch. Near Nairn Lochloy Holiday Park is Inverness, Pitlochry is near Tummel Valley Holiday Park, Wemyss Bay Holiday Park is near the cities of Glasgow and Largs, Ayr is near Sundrum Castle Holiday Park, while Southerness Holiday Park is near Dumfries. All of these holiday parks have facilities like Star parks, indoor pool, outdoor pool, kid’s clubs, tot’s club, freestyle, entertainment, bar, restaurant, soft play, crazy golf, sports court, and free Wi-Fi.

There are also other holiday parks in Scotland. Located on the beautiful West Coast of Scotland near Oban and overlooking the Ardmucknish Bay is the 5-star Tralee Bay Holiday Park which charges prices from £260 to £860 per week. Findhorn Bay Holiday Park in Moray overlooks the Findhorn Bay and is a short distance from the Moray Firth. It offers eco-friendly tourism options, with eco chalets and caravans.

The Spinney Lodges and the Lazyday Cottages can be found on the Scottish Borders; Chalets and luxury lodges at Crieff Hydro, Blairgowrie, Duncrievie Log Cabins, and Tummel Valley Holiday Parks can be found in Perthsire; in Loch Lomond, Lomond Luxury Lodges and Loch Lomond Holiday Park can be found.
